Every electric vehicle depends on its battery, and every battery depends on staying cool. When the cells run too hot, they wear out faster and lose performance. When they run too cold, they cannot charge properly or deliver full power. That is exactly the job of a Battery Thermal Management System, or BTMS: it holds the pack at a safe, steady temperature no matter what the road, the weather, or the workload throws at it.

NEWBASE builds liquid-cooled BTMS units for commercial electric vehicles — buses, heavy trucks, construction machinery, and mining vehicles. Coolant circulates through the battery pack, carrying heat away and rejecting it through the unit’s condenser, with an optional heater for cold-weather start-up. Each unit communicates with the vehicle’s battery management system over a standard CAN connection, so cooling and heating respond automatically to real-time demand.

A battery held at its ideal temperature charges faster and more reliably, delivers full power on steep grades and during long shifts, and holds its capacity for far longer over the life of the vehicle. Keeping temperature even across the pack is what protects battery life. Hot spots are the main reason cells age early and unevenly, so our liquid-cooled design spreads cooling gently but consistently across every module. The result is more stable power output, longer service life, and safer operation during fast charging and heavy load. Because our BTMS units are modular, they can also share a single coolant loop with air-conditioning and motor-cooling circuits, giving a vehicle one integrated thermal system instead of several competing ones.
